NOTE:
If you're serious about having a good piper, be prepared to pay around $NZ200+* for an engagement within a radius of 25 km from the pipers base.
If the piper is very good and didn't ask for such a figure, he or she should be given a gift of comparable value.
Alternatively, get someone in your family to start learning 7 years** ahead of the event, get them a set of bagpipes (somewhere between $NZ1900-$NZ12000), get them a full highland outfit (somewhere between $NZ1500-$NZ3000) and get them to practice and be competent in playing memorised music in public. The choice is yours.
